VR2: Directed by Jill Teas

Our Story: After the growth and success of Voices Rock, Denver’s original adult Rock Choir, it became clear that there were younger rock stars waiting to shine. There was a demand for a different type of choral program where children who just loved to sing could gather in a relaxed, no musical background required setting. In 2019 BP (before pandemic!) Voices Rock launched our amazing youth rock choir, VR2. The group took off and 90 of our youngest rock stars had a successful session and an AMAZING show before a sold-out audience of 1000 fans at the Newman Center. Unfortunately, the pandemic forced us to put VR2 on hold. Today, we are THRILLED to be re-opening and can’t wait to share this amazing opportunity once again with our younger rock stars.

Our Mission: To build community though song in a safe, inclusive and positive environment where each child is celebrated for who they are.

The Experience: VR2 is a non-audition, relaxed, come as you are, supportive and high energy environment where our kids learn fun rock, pop and musical theater songs from multiple decades. Students from many different schools around the Denver area learn strong music fundamentals, performance techniques, and overall vocal skills. Our sessions run 12 weeks  plus a dress rehearsal and performance where our all of our rock stars come together and preform for friends and family. While many choirs require a half or full year commitment, VR2 leaves space for other activities of interest.

VR2 is a warm, welcoming,  and supportive community where children are encouraged to find their voice. We believe now more than ever that it is essential to help children connect face-to-face and what better way to do so than through singing!
